been truckn for 10 years i am a trainer also been with transport america the hole 10 years. yes they made me mad but when i went looking for a diffrent job couldnt find one to pay more unless it was union(over all pay including 401 ins ect). the training program is one of the best even jbhunt will hire you once you complete our training you dont even have to go out on the road with us first lol.
tmc (the marine core of trucking) had a student that went there didnt like it either. i started to do flat bed at first. but then, i fugered i would be blown away with the tarp and m at 5 foot 2 it wont be easy to reach up with an ice covered tarp in the rain snow whatever god dumps on your head lol you get the point think long and hard about what you want to do. look at pay, ins, 401k, retirement, saftey rating, year of the trucks, watch getting paided some co. are bad at not paying you! ask ask ask questions you need to stay with what ever co. you go with for a year then a diffrent job will be easier.
when you ask questions if the person seems short cut it short hang up and try a diffrent co. i now have a student- well last 3 students who worked for swift for 6mo. or less all i can say they were not happy with them at all had pay isues and had to go back out with a trainer when they changed co. ( thats why you need a year before you change co.) i can only tell you what little i know thats a little. remember i have been here for 10 years made 77 tho last year thats up there pretty good took a wile to make it there tho with the SAME co. good luck

we hire in meridian mississippi all the time... next wave will be in april or may.

you need to be 2 hours away or closer...

they run new orleans / atlanta / memphis / some points in florida and birmingham / nashville.... we in cincinnati run "to" meridian - but in the next change of operations meridian will probably start coming up here.

do not take hiring advice from local management - only from employment officers...

hell even most of our drivers did not know some of our new guys were as inexperienced as they were...

3 new hires in mississippi started in june - 1 had 4 years with old dominion and the other drove for peagus' out of j'ville indiana...

dunno who you chatted with - but there is no list.. all apps that are not hired are thrown away after 90 days - we have no "list" or waiting list...

Does anyone know whom to call or see at wal mart about getting a driving job? I keep getting dead ends on the web site. Even spoke to one of their drivers who didn't know how he got his job. Figure if that pin head can make it there I am a shoo in.

That is not true at all. I am a Walmart driver and with six months behind the wheel the hiring comm. wont even look at your application. You have to have a minimum of 250,000 safe miles to even get a foot in the door.

Probably why their SafeStat looks like this:
    Driver SEA: 9.51
    Vehicle SEA: 10.63
    ISS-D: 23
    ISS-D Recommendation: Guess?

Just out of curiousity, has the MABD affected you at all?

Last time I filled out an app. for Wal-Mart, the minimum requirement was 4 yr or 350,000 accident/ticket free miles. For the DC's here in Colo./Wyo. they also want 2 yrs Mtn. exp. as well.
