Thanks for setting me straight but I have to ask, "Is that "first company" deal an industry norm and do some carriers have the flexibility to hire and repay on a case by case, individual basis?" I really want to believe that there is no law in this regard.

No law or regulation about it...just the way the training companies set the whole thing up. And not all do it....I'm actually not sure if Swift still does full tuition reimbursement for any school other than it's own. I seem to recall hearing they stopped reimbursing outside school tuition....but I could be wrong...usually not though! LOLOLOLOLOL:biggrin_25522:

Sonny, you can kiss up to me anytime. You are such a gentleman. :yes2557: I love compliments, since I don't get them too often back at the homestead. :biggrin_25523:

Uh....or were you were confusing me with someone else? :biggrin_2556:

Might be the girl from Ohio, or Virginia, or Tennessee, or maybe New York!

    rayodeluz,

i personally would not ever sign any type of contract that holds me to anything. i dnt know about swifts contract so i cnt really comment on that alone. its just my opinion. and as you know evryone has one. i too just got my cdl(today!!!) through a private school called sage. swift will hire you from them, and i recomend this school. they are located nation wide.there cost is about $4000, and is 4 to 5 weeks long. i have a prehire with swift and am calling them tomorrow to set up orientation. i hope everything goes well w them. also i might have misunderstood you, but it sounds like you have gaps in ur work history. if that is the case be prepared to back that up w/ something explaining y. from what i understand they want you to have a good work history so they know your reliable. anyways hope this helps, and not all schools are overpriced you just have to look into them. i'm not sure if sage is certified through ptdi, but i received many prehires from different companys.

All i can say is that in the next 6 weeks have your brain soak up the knowledge that you will learn from your trainer. When you're on your own the knowledge that you soaked up will help you as you begin your adventure.

Oh yeah? At least I know where that extra twenty I give you every week is going now.

You don't have to worry about spending it all in one place, the twenty should take care of all of them.

I heard they work cheap, but the one with teeth charges extra. A dollar for every tooth, which means you'll have enough change to buy yourself dinner. :laughing-guffaw:

Just for that, you both owe me roses AND a box of See's dark chocolate candies. :biggrin_25510:

Just kidding. :biggrin_2559: You guys are a hoot. lol Oh, and by the way dear, that "honey-do" list just got bigger. Sometimes I crack myself up and sometimes, well..............I just get even. :biggrin_25523:

And just think OBGYN, when you start driving for Swift, you'll be able to afford these girls too. You'll be in the big league, so just make sure to bring along those hot pink panties you were talking about earlier. :biggrin_25525:

Not just the Swifties...all these youngsters getting their "licenses" from these fly-by-night schools. Can someone explain how the Watkins-Shephard "10 day orientation" works...it sounds like they don't even go out with a trainer!
