imanoob, I understand your consternation there is no way to insulate yourself from the fly by nights. I didn't go to school, taught myself how to drive and got my license on my own and have learned a lot of lessons the hard way because of it. I commend you for going to school to learn the basics first. As far as a company to work for? The major companies are major for a reason they get the freight delivered within a certain time frame and at a certain price. They are able to do this by having the drivers available to handle what they need done. While having worked for several companies I can only speak from my own experiance at swift. I was given a lot of miles but unfortunalty there was a lot of down time as well, 1 to 2 days between runs. I had a lot of other problems with them that were my reason for quitting but a lot of drivers there seemed to have no problem with. Keep in mind nine out of ten people will complain about something but only 2 out of ten will commend something. While you are doing your research keep that in mind.
