Back into radios after a few years. New Sirio 5000 Mag mount ant. into a Connex. '18 GMC pickup. Roof mount with the mag mount. Can't get the SWR below 2.5

    Any ideas?

Old antenna was a Wilson 5K and the SWR was 1.3 mounted on a tool box in the bed. Tried the wilson on the mag mount no change in the SWR.

Make sure you are way the heck away from any buildings or other vehicles when checking SWR

The problem with mag mount antennas is that they either work or they don't. Is this a new mag mount, or is it one that you have used before?

Mag mount antennas are grounded through capacitive coupling between the magnet and the vehicles metal roof. They usually work fairly well with VHF and UHF frequencies. It seems like they can be more difficult to use on HF frequencies, such as 11 meters. It takes a bigger magnet to hold the longer antenna on the vehicle too.

A bunch of those Sirios mag mounts have the aluminum sheet not installed which creates the capacitance when it is on the vehicle. They give one in the box and gets lost.
