Gonna let it slide, really can't prove if that's when it actually happened but I'm pretty sure...Those magnetic cranes are horrible not just there but at every place.
Reitnouer did me a solid and overnighted the parts, recieved them this morning, but these only have 2 holes on the side that goes into the trailer, the old setup has 4 holes? Kind of odd. Next problem is I sent my Milwaukee Impact off for warranty repair 3 weeks ago and still haven't heard anything about it... Think ill go rent a impact Monday for the day versus paying a shop to mess with this... Looks like day rate is $26... not bad.
The would be my excuse to buy another MW impact. Maybe a different style or size for diversity sake. Because you can never have enough power tools.
Great....just found out I'll be heading to the Bay Area of Commiefornia on Tuesday Would rather go to New York. I HATE with a passion this state. All well I guess. That's trucking for ya
They come that way because the other 2 holes are not always in the same spot. If you use stainless steel fasteners going back together, don't use an impact. Stainless likes to gall due to the heat. Lube on the threads is your friend.
And thats just what I did. Went to home depot last night and picked up this smaller compact 1/2 impact. You can see in one of the pictures below, not much room was left so pretty sure my other Milwaukee would not have fit anyhow. Those new mounting brackets are longer than the original style that was on the trailer. Better design IMO, they fit nice and snug, had to shave a hair off one of them with the grinder to make it fit... Drilling the new holes through the brackets was easy,, i mounted them first to the trailer with the existing holes, then drilled so they lined up perfectly!!! Took about 4 hours, definitely wasn't a $1800 job like I was quoted.. But its completed now!!!
Great choice. A trailer project was my reason for buying that same tool in 3/8" drive. Changing out all the air springs on a Hendrickson 40k chassis under a reefer trailer. That short impact will -just- fit on the upper fasteners without hitting the frame behind it. Powerful too, especially being 3/8" drive - broke loose 5/8" hardware most times. Only one or two needed a breaker bar to get them started.
