This is one area where I am well aware of my limitations. I won't buy anything without a warranty and that can be checked out by my mechanic before purchase. No way I'm buying a rig from a webpage bid and a picture.
Really I don't know what kind of person would (should), regardless of experience.
What am I missing?

i can agree with Pharmphail i have sold a truck on ebay but when we did it we listed all the stof we know that was wrong with it at the time we parked it and as a mechanic - O/O you dont know if the seller is telling the truth or if you can even drive it pass a scale house to git it home

LOL.. but you know what's funny is I did go check out ebay just now and found a couple good local dealers to go check out. One has terms that sound really good.
