My take is this..The trucking industry has this all figured out..wheather you are independent,o/o,or lease driver you can figure on no more than .40 cents a mile for your labor...

My biggest gripe is the GOVERMENT,THE COMPANIES,AND THE INSURANCES,NOT TO FORGET CHEAP DRIVERS HAVE MADE IT WHAT IT IS TODAY....

It is no different then the ''FARMER''..They ''used'' to make great money then the GOVERNMENT,INSURANCE found a way ''LEGALLY'' TO SCREW THEM OUT OF THERE MONEY...

The trucking industry has a set # in there minds that they will pay for driver labor...

No matter which way we do it there is always a way they #### us out of are money...In the end it all works out to about .30-.40 cents a mile..With an occasional bone once in a great while....

People think ok i am getting my own authority,i will make more money.Well when you do that you just added so much more expence to figure in to your deductions and not to mention you just added more taxes...and much more headache and paper work..

Then we have the lease.Same thing less headache less paperwork..But same money in the end .30-.40 a mile for labor...

Company driver, depending on company makes .30-.40 a mile with exp...
No headache,no paperwork and if he finds a good company he gets good beni's...

In the end it all washes out to be a driver is going to make between .25-.45 a mile for there labor...

But we have these ''drivers'' that think they can go were no other owner has gone before. They have this ''idea'' on paper that they are going to ''figure'' it out better then any one before them...

They will not listen so i let them go only to find out up the road they are ''bankrupt'' or they ''lie'' and tell everyone they are rich living in there 1,000 1948 single wide fleetwood with lot rent at $210.00..rolmfao.

So they run down the road day after day telling everyone ''lies'' about how they ''figured'' it out, when the truth is we all ready figured it out...and what we figured out is this....

BEING AN OWNER OPERATOR IS NOT A ''GET RICH QUICK SCHEME''...

IN THE END YOU MAKE WHAT A COMPANY DRIVER MAKES..ITS NOT ROCKETT SCIENCE.

    ACTUAL MILES ARE 1,160

    EMPTY MILES ARE = 420
    PAID MILES ARE = 2,206

    FIRST LEG IS 1,050 X 1.71 = 1,795.50
    SECOND LEG IS 1,051 X 1.01 = 1,061.51

    1,795.50 + 1,061 = 2,857.01

I hear you 1pod, I have been trying to tell people the same thing for a long time. I think some people live in that "FANTASY WORLD" and don't see the "REAL WORLD". Trucking has went down hill bad. I yes I hate to admit this but it is also a DRIVERS fault for even excepting these low wages.

P.S. it looks like your $711.16 might be less, I calculated 2735 actual miles.
no biggy my math sucks sometimes. LOL:biggrin_255:

i hate to say this too.but you can't raise a family on this trucker wage...

Thats why it is going to hell.the people that do it these days are hobo truckers and setting up there home in a truck..thats ok,dont get me wrong.but it is driving down the wages...

If all i had to worry about was fuel money for my 18 wheel house i live in,sleep in,piss in,eat in and crap in(lol),then i guess i could run for cheap money too...

But what about us ''family guys''?

We are the ones getting a beating...

You ever stop and think maybe some of the drivers are very dedicated family members doing what they have to do no matter what to provide for their family !! I will sacrifice my time and well-being on the road with less pay if it means my Wife and Kids have what they need. I however can do without some things that I refuse to let them do without. It's commitment to not giving up. So are you saying that everyone should just sit, run their funds dry and let their family suffer? I refuse to do that. I will do whatever I can to make money or extra money for my family , including selling off my unnecessary items , like extra guns I have collected over the years, play toys like my Mud Jeep , and my boat and fishing gear if need be. My wife and kids come first , wants are not needs , and they can be replaced over time. I hope things get a little better for all of us , nobody should have to go without their bare needs. "JMO" I'm not trying to start anything here , just giving another outlook on the situation. Some look at things different when it comes to taking care of their family and themselves.
