Run a regular mom and pop restaurant route, 18 stops a day, "only" 600 or so cases and it'll run you your full 14 and you'll be a stud if you can average 100 cases an hr -
@duckdiver
I didn't mean to come off condescending -
Unloading a trailer is a huge pain no matter what whether you do one stop or 20. Takes a special breed to do ltl/food service/any other Unloading truck driving job -
@G13Tomcat , they put out a voice mail yesterday looking for volunteers to go up and run routes in Boston for a week or two, to help out up there. I want to do it I really really do, but I'm kind of nervous because Boston is scary and poorly designed and there's a lot of unknown, plus I can only go for a week, schools are starting up pretty soon early August and I have to be here for that. I'm still on the fence. Running transit at night wouldn't be bad, but I already know I'll be out on a route by my self which is to be expected somewhere in down town Boston which is scary. Now maybe they might send a warehouse worker or if they get enough volunteers they can double up the other workers from the other divisions.
I know exactly what the route is going to be it's going to be down town Boston maybe surrounding area, there could be a little bit of Rhode Island action. One of drivers who doesn't have a route is going. Well there not letting anyone go anywhere till after the RNC. Which good gravy that will be almost like being in Boston so not much different.
The North East doesn't appeal to me that much would like to see it for the experience, but anywhere else would have been a no brainier except Chicago no offense to Chicago, but that town/area just doesn't do anything for me.
If it was something easy like transit drivers in Florida I would be all over that even Toronto down town Toronto wouldn't be a big deal because we use 10 wheelers out there in the down town area I'll drive a 10 wheeler anywhere. -
Wow, what an opportunity, tho @Mike2633 !!!! I've run Boston, tho.. back in the day for International Paper Co., and it's nowhere NEAR as bad when I had to do Cali with Fedex/LH twins, and NYC AND Chicago for Transport America back in the day. Yeah the convention is gonna make ALL that area HELL! Kinda glad they're not coming to CLE, LoL.
Chicago ULTIMATELY sucks.. i'll take the GW in NY anyday over the windy city. The 'small' company I am based out of is actually in Chicago, so I have to go there once a quarter....yuck. And my cellphone which they pay for, has a Chicago number......confuses the hell outta people here, haha.
Running at night is my 'forte and choice... always has been. Man, with all you been doing idk why you wouldn't be able to, comfortably. Some of the places you guys navigate with GFS [like my wife's BobEv's] are more troublesome!
IMHO, I would volunteer for that 'one week,' and see where it goes. We buckeye's are a TOUGH BREED, man!!!
Let me know how it goes, bro.
Sorry O/P for the hijack; but hope it will help you in a random way!~!!
Be safe, guys~~!Bob Dobalina, Mike2633 and Dumdriver Thank this. -
