You don't have to answer this being a public forum and all, how do you like TMC? I this is honestly the first I've heard of them, probably seen them around, but I checked out their website and a few youtube videos and they look pretty nice. I may put my feelers out next week and if nothing else show some interest.

TMC was great. If i stayed a company driver I would never have left. From day one you have the potential to make as much as the most experienced oldest drive there. Pay is 100% performance based. I made 64k my first year (not training). Flatbed is harder then Van, but you will get in shape pretty easily and make at least 1/3 more pay. If your on TMC % program, you will average .45-50/mile. Compare that to most van companies paying .20-.30/mile. No we don't drive as many miles because we waste time strapping down the loads, but int he end you make way more money.

TMC is known for being strict. I don't think they are that bad, but they expect you to act like professionals. If you cant act appropriate in their hotel and follow simple rules like keep off the grass, then how can they expect you to respect the customer and the equipment. Most of the trainers are decent. I'd say better then most companies. Trainers get reviewed after every trainee and can be terminated from training at any time. you also have the option to switch trainers if its not working out. As far as securment training, TMC is the best. other flatbed companies ask TMC drivers if they don't know how to secure a load. If you respect your Fleet Manager and try to help the company when needed you can be very successful at TMC.

Personaly, I feel TMC was a great company, and if not for them i would not be where i am today. My high revenue at TMC allowed me to save enough to buy my own truck. where are you from, you dont have location listed. Depending on where you are they may be a good fit.

TMC has tons of freight out of that area. If you wanted to, after a few months you could even go dedicated out of lafarge gypsume and get home a few times a week.

To keep your pay close to where you are now, go with flatbed or tanker/hazmat.

Go to the top of this page and click on "CDL Practice Tests" to get started.

Put in a year OTR, and apply to haul gas locally.

Landstar (if you wanted to O/O with them) prefers van or flatbed experience. Tanker will make it harder for you if you want to work for landstar long term

Richter, One more question if I may... Do you think TMC would have an issue with my driving record?

I don't think so, but call a recruiter to be sure. They will make exceptions to their rules for the right person, so be persuasive and don't take no as an answer.
