If you need to move over (to left lane). Someone is coming up in that lane. Can see they have plenty of speed to get by you before your required to move over. Go ahead and cut them off. Yes it’s rude. But! You notice? Many slow down, or at least hesitate, while right next to you. Then they bother to get by you. They don’t care that there’s a vehicle merging into your lane. As far as they’re concerned. That’s your problem. So just cut them off. Don’t feel rude about it. They ask for it.

Good post. One situation I get sometimes is some dingleberry on a ramp ahead of me merging at like 45 mph and I'm doing 65. I can make a Swift lane change or stand on my brakes. If I rear end someone doing that is it my fault or theirs?

I have seen YouTube vids of similar things happening. A truck going down the interstate, backed up lane to his right, he was passing them, not at full interstate speed, but a lot faster. A 4 wheeler pulls out right in front of him trying to escape the delay and CRUNCH follow by trucker profanity. Its a rear end pretty clear, is that still the truckers fault? His left wasn't clear right after the hit a car passes him on the left.

When i see backups like that, my instinct is to slow down because I know people will do that and dont want a rear end on my record. But at the same time I know slowing down in the interstate isnt good either.

That's what I do. I figure if I refuse to do anything I'm only adding to some of the problems happening on the road. Well i dont brake I take off cruise and let it slow on its own. Then once the egg head is back over and up the road, back to cruise.

usually if you rear end a car in that situation it will be your fault. . if it's a sides wipe it would be the cars .... I try to stay in the right lane as much as possible unless it's downtown during rush hour ... the middle lane is usually clogged up by morons ... it's not rocket science how to let mergers on you usually you can tell how someone starts out on the ramp some you can back off a tad and there on and gone .... then there's the brake light bunch Goin 20 mph trying to merge into 65 mph traffic you have to stand your ground or speed up a little to clear them most of that type if you notice will merge into the middle lane asap ..... in general terms anyone who is going slower than you is a moron and anybody going faster than you is an idiot. ... as you are always going at just the right speed this is especially true on snow slick roads... if there is 4 or 5 cars trying to merge I will change lanes if possible other than trucks or vehicle with trailers I stay in my lane

I have at times flipped my high beams on at vehicles if someone is signaling to pull out in front of me when I'm going much faster and wouldn't be able to stop in time, like when a car with emergency flashers then signals to now pull back on the interstate from the shoulder. I'm not saying this is right or not. I've just done it to try to let the other driver know to not pull in front of me lol.

My number 1 is trust nobody on the road. Never assume they will do the right thing Number 2 is if unsure knock the cruise off and be ready to brake
