My first auto, a Volvo in 2012, the only manual control was very limited. The driver's only manual option was to lock it into the current gear. If you did that and didn't switch back to auto as you slowed it would stall the engine eventually. The ability to prevent turning on manual mode can be blocked by a setting in the ECM. So, even if the owners manual of the truck shows a manual mode, turning it on may be prevented. I've had a truck like that and EVERYONE assumed I was saying *I* couldn't get my truck to switch into manual mode until they tried it, following the directions in the book. The switch was installed. It was marked as the Manual mode switch, but doing what the book said would activate manual mode had no effect. My next truck, identical but one year newer, had the same switch in the same place and the book showed the same procedure. It worked in that truck.
What are your thoughts on automatic vs manual transmissions?

speaking of performance cars i have owned 2 camaros but automatic. my 1996 was a Z28 with the LT1. automatic. far more automatics were produced and today if you are looking for a 4th gen fbody with a 6 speed manual, they sell for significantly more money.
