The DT-12 will do the same thing if driver does nothing. Just like normal driving it won't kick in to 3 or 5 over the set speed. It has Descent Mode that's is for the big mountains basically. If drivers want to go 30MPH downhill. It will bypass that 3 or 4 MPH overspend cruise control has. It will automatically switch between engine brake stages 1-2-3 and it will select gear on transmission to hold the speed driver set it for. You can go down hill without touching the brakes. If people let the transmission and engine brakes and computer do it thing. It will drop a gear and bring engine RPMs up to 2100 or 2200.
It can go down like 8% hill without touching the brakes at the speed driver wants.Pamela1990 Thanks this. -
Autos suck on liquid tankers. They will "hunt for a gear" on hill and wind up going up the hill about 10 mph when you could have gone up at 45 with a manual. I learned on hills to force the truck into manual mode. It really improved the Great Gear Hunt from the surge.Pamela1990 Thanks this.

That’s the part I don’t understand with some comments about autos… if you are in a situation that you need/want more gear control, just press a button and done. No big deal.
Not saying Autos are perfect and Manuals don’t have there advantages, but if you don’t want to be in Auto, just push a button. Doesn’t seem to be a big deal.Last edited: Dec 26, 2021

Some companies disable manual so you're stuck with whatever the truck decides.Speedy356 Thanks this.

No if they don’t have it programmed it won’t go into gear. It will override your inputs
