Everytime I quit, I clean the truck thoroughly. Then I break the camera out and take pictures of it and the trailer. This thread is exactly why. CYA Try to print out stuff on the storm and surrounding circumstances and contest your DAC. Go here to contest... http://www.hireright.com/Consumers-Applicants.aspx
yeah your right...the other part 2 this story is i allready have a minor backing accident(montville,ct) on my DAC now i have this.. some one told me that this one is called a equipment preventible????but its just stated on my DAC as preventible with the date & location & the location is wrong cause i never was at that location.... (im screwed)i think my otr my be over 4 now till i put some time and distance from that preventable???????????
Folks and the dreaded DAC......................... Geeze, get away from those companies........... Haul milk around up there........check around !!!!
The difference from a falling tree and a clearance issue with a bridge or another unknown object should be EASY to differentiate. Maybe the driver got into a scrape somewhere on the way out. I would have the company send me a picture. Also, and don't take this the wrong way, if you damaged it yourself do the right thing and man up instead of playing dumb..which will get you nowhere. Not accusing, I'm just saying. Send a letter to DAC with an explanation and request it be attached to the report and that you are contesting the accusation. I've personally seen drivers pull every trick imaginable about damages and what caused them. You have GOT to learn to CYA with pictures and such. Even when the guy came to pick the rig there should have been a walkaround for any obvious damage and had him sign off or something. You gotta use your head smitty and remember you have to look out for yourself...no one else can or will do it for you.
Only about a third of the companies use DAC. Your career isn't over. You convinced many of us you weren't at fault. You can convince a potential employer the same thing if they find out. Usually background checks are dates of employment and drug screen results. Still contest the DAC. The damage wasn't reported to after the fact. They don't have solid proof. A tornado with 200 mph winds can create gapping holes in anything.
Good information. Our company used a booklet for pretrips and posttrips. We checked all the same items so if you had something like this it would show the new driver took the truck with no damage. But not every company does safety like they should. I hope you have your logs with the milage of the truck on them. You can prove that the truck didn't move while it was at your house. Fight DAC as much as you can. You just don't want something on there that you had no part in. You can ask the company if that driver sign any inspection report but it already sounds like they went to that driver and he or she said I didn't do it. You can even try to reconstruct what happened if you know there's a low overhang. Take pictures and try to clear yourself.
i like to thank everyone that took out the time to read my thread and to give me some feed back... i took the suggestion and filed a appeal with DAC (hire right) for that equipment issue with arnold.the people with DAC are real kool they informed me that there opening the case and they also gave me a case #... and they also told me me arnold has 30 days to responed and if they dont then DAC removes it off my report... DAC also informed me that most companys dont responed and they wind up taking it off drivers DAC..... so that was nice to know.. so my OTR career is on hold right now i also found out something from a OTR co. they would bring me on but i have to wait for one of the prevent; on my DAC to hit 2yrs old which will be in 60 days... basically i need time and distance from the things on my DAC.. (prevent
yeah i have my logs thats no problem..but what killed me was when i appealed this with arnold.. i told them you can see that i wasnt in the truck why dont you just check the QUALCOM???? the qualcom will tell the whole story about what goes on about a truck!!!!!!!!!!! and arnold told me that they dont have the time to go into the system.... SMFH... so now you tell me why do companys do orientation classes on the importance of the QUALCOM?????
