How do you propose to crimp the center conductor without deforming it and causing that deformation to have a negative impact on your electrical connection inside the SO239?

Not all crimp connectors cause problems, the quality connectors for the most part surpass a lot of soldered on connectors because of a lack of soldering skills.

I was taught how to solder by one of the guys who taught Nasa assemblers in the 60's.

Best CB antenna setup I’ve ever had..after one year still doing great. Radio and antenna are factory installed. 5F66096A-2E2E-42B7-BA31-C3D80E771042.jpeg

Although one annoying issue. Every time I use the windshield washer the CB goes crazy with almost like the sound of the washer motor.

My knowledge of CB’s and troubleshooting is nonexistent..just an out of the box type of driver.

That’s not high enough, it doesn’t clear the cab. No signal to the front. The broker I haul for has a similar set up on there new truck. The guy couldn’t get out. I told him to get an antenna that clears the top roof. He did and now he’s a happy camper.

Long enough just so it clears the cab on top. Measure the one you have and just add whatever more you need to clear it. Mine is a mirror mount and it’s over 14’ , I’ve never had issues at the scales for height as some have mentioned on here. Add a good quality spring on the bottom mount if your worried about hitting trees or low over passes.

Okay, I’m going to give it a try. Maybe it’ll motivate me to finally swap out the radio with a better one I have sitting at home. Just a Cobra but has the weather band on it.

Great video!!! You should do one on how to properly prepare and solder the center conductor of a coax. I'm using crimp connectors now for the braid, but still solder the center conductor.

Go as tall as you can get away with. Make sure it is a top loaded antenna. I've lost one antenna in all the years I trucked. A 5.5' Francis. I usually used a 4.5', but for some reason I don't remember, I used the 5.5" that trip. That low bridge on I-55 NB, in Memphis, a couple of miles before you get to the bridge murdered it! (RR viaduct if I recall correctly......been a few years since I've been over there in a truck, retired now.)
