In that case, Mike, you likely didn't know that the US Interstate numbering system is based on the German Autobahn numbering system. A1, A3, A5 A7 and A9 being north/south international routes, while A2, A4, A6 and A8 are east/west international routes. Two number autobahns (such as A61 - west of Koln (Cologne) to Hochenheim) are national roads and three number roads being regional.
