Don't mean to speak out of turn, but getting your CDL back is not your biggest concern. Many companies require that you take a refresher course if you've been out 'X' months. And I'm pretty sure at 3 years, you'd need that almost anywhere.
My best advice would be to find a community college, get your refresher, and test out. We had a guy that did that in my class. It was pretty easy peasy for him.
    Good luck
I think it ran him about $500

    tscottme and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.

I also want to add, after you take the 3 week course, they will probably put you with a trainer, but since you already know what you're doing, they will probably turn you out in a week of being with a trainer.

    tscottme Thanks this.

    Im sorry for your loss.

I don't understand the comment "I dont want to sign a 1 year contract." I would sign a 5 year contract with a great company that matched me. I wouldn't sign a 30 day contract with a company that didnt match my needs. The goal is a good steady job.

Make a list of trucking companies with yards near your town. Visit those yards and talk to those drivers. When you find drivers making enough money for you with conditions good enough for you, apply there. The more specialized your situation the less internet-only the job search needs to be. Internet-only searches are for people in cookie-cutter situations.

Raider express is supposed to be free and no contract. Only thing I know about them is that they have slow trucks and pull reefer. Maybe @Chinatown has more info.
