CR England hires anyone, most cannot hit a parking spot in a empty parking lot and run over about anything that can be destroyed.

fatherdirt I'll take your side. The whole purpose of school is to learn the basics so you can get your CDL and advance to the next level of going out with a trainer at a company. It is the instructors responsibility to make sure you do things right. He should of been in the truck watching and popped the brakes if he thought you were about to mess up. At least yell at you. The fact he let it happen makes him just as negligent.

But that doesn't happen when you go out with a real trainer and have your CDL. You are 100% responsible then.

If I were you I would read the fine print of your contract and see if there are any equipment damage stipulations. If there are you have no choice but to pay. If there are no stipulations no single person can play judge and jury and coerce you into paying. They can take you to court with a civil suit but they can't play games with you like withhold your certificate. This happens every time in the industry. What one thinks is right and what the actual laws are can be two different things. You paid for a service in advance and he has to uphold his end of the bargain or he is in default. It all depends what's written in that contract. If you find nothing talk with a lawyer. You might get sued but you'll have your certificate.

This is one reason schools have ragged out trucks and pay a high insurance premium to pay for incidents because students are green as green can get.
