What makes a real truck then?
Does it have to be shaped like a brick and everything have to rattle to be a real truck? ;)

    I got this...

    ... because I didn't buy a real truck.

Does the truck have plastic parts? Fuggedaboutit. One tiny crack in that door or hood and you will soon need to replace it. That crack will expand until your door or hood is threatening to come apart.

Want a real truck? Think METAL.

It'll run a million miles with little more than grease jobs and oil changes. Doesn't matter if it's a brick or an aerocab. To me, a truck is something that'll pull all day, ask for more at the end, and make bank for the owner all year long (looking good while doing it is just a bonus). Most modern trucks these days, including things like the 389 Pete and W9 KW are crappily made pieces of trash compared to things built in the 1980's*.

Diesel technology was perfected in the late 1990's and early 2000's (see Detroit S60, Cummins N14 and CAT 3406/C-15). Now it's just a market of expensive addons mandated by the government.

*My company is building a 389 glider right now and the mechanic doing the work has told me that other than the motor, transmission and diffs, the whole truck is essentially trash comparatively, even thought it's brand new. The wiring is the worst part of it, Paccar really cheaps out apparently. Back in the 1980's, everything was made to last 30-40 years, and was made of quality products.

What if i told you that volvo you were making fun of has a detroit series 60 with 1.5 million original miles, but gets much better fuel mileage due to being aerodynamic vs your brick truck? ;)
