Hey guys. Looking to see you what you guys do as far as seat backs and stuff for back pain. This is my 9th week driving and I’m starting to feel more and more pain in my middle/upper back. I do know I have phase 1 spinal degeneration and arthritis in my neck already, and I’m only 26 ♂️. Going to the chiropractor when I get back home.
What do you do for back pain while driving?

I have all kinds of issues with my back too. I see a chiropractor every week and a massage therapist a couple times a month. The stock freightliner seats are built for people a few inches shorter than me so I put a lumbar pillow behind me. That keeps the shape of the actual seat from forcing my shoulders to hunch forward. I also force myself to take the time to stop and stretch every 2 or 3 hours.Stonehjl, D.Tibbitt, Rideandrepair and 2 others Thank this.

How tall are you? And what pillow you use? I’m like 5’8 so

I'm 6'2. I've tried several different pillows to figure out which one is best suited for me. I can't remember the brand of my current one but it came from the automotive aisle at Meijer. I paid about 20 bucks for it.Brianjr323 Thanks this.

Supplements have helped me.
Krill / Cod liver oil will really help with inflammation
Collagen helps me with joint pain
Melatonin helps with getting good uninterrupted rest
A good bed in the truck helps if that is a possibility. Same with a good seat.
Stretch, Exercise, eat right ... all the normal things to stay healthysnowmantrucking101, Bean Jr., Rideandrepair and 1 other person Thank this. -
I had to focus on maintaining a good posture, since my nature is to slouch, and I ALWAYS used a heavy-duty lumbar cushion. Just because some product has the word lumbar in the description doesn't mean it is worth buying. Slouching is the the singles worst thing you can do for your back while sitting.
Lifting weights and weight-bearing exercises will help strengthen your back. I found walking really helped MY back.Stonehjl, rollin coal, Bean Jr. and 2 others Thank this. -
Acupuncture works best for me.Its the fastest treatment and doesn't require any medication.Usaully some sore muscles the next day but normally there are immediate results.Just find a good Acupuncture Clinic.

Like someone else pointed out, a quality matress is a huge benefit as well. My company provides a nearly worthless spring matress, but a 3 inch Tempur-Pedic topper makes a big difference. It costs a few hundred dollars but for me, it was a worthwhile investment.
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
What exactly is that? I looked it up. Is it like a massage?
