This seemed like it could have been a simple fix but I ended up having to drive to the International dealership to get the door fixed.

I was in Casper Wy and the wind there was going nuts. Was trying to close the door but there was something in the wind that messed up the latch so that the door would not shut all the way. I had to strap the door down as far as it would close and luckily the dealership was only a few miles away.

This is not the first time this happened on a windy day. Is there an easy fix for this kind of problem? Dealership had me out in about 20 minutes.

You should have asked them what they did and had the tech show you.

When my door latch gets sticky I hit it with some wd40 and open/close it a few times. Seems to do the trick.

Could have used a seatbelt on it.
Actually a tarp strap or bungee temporarily.
What did the dealership do to fix the problem?

    'Something in the wind'...

Maybe look for a twig or something in the latch next time?

Flat head screw driver will also work. If the latch is being wonky.

    At lest in my experience.

    YMMV.

    Better fix it.

Before it really gets cold enough to twist your door off it's frame and leak in air.

Did they just get the latch to close the door or did they actual fix the problem by replacing the latch?

I would have them replace the latch, problem solved for the rest of the truck's life.

Haven't heard that said in a long long time.

cjb logistics and Rideandrepair Thank this.
