What do you guys do on downtime(bunk)

post trip, dive, unwind, sleep...repeat..I tend to run a lot.

 

Workout, watch YouTube, browse web, play a video game, go photograph stuff, read books mostly on the ipad.

 

And don't forget to check out what your plans should be for the next days drive, ie, the mapping, where are you stopping at maybe for the 1/2hr break or what's available for stopping at, fuel, etc.

By the time you fix something to eat, shower, your time will be really eatin up and then you have to reserve a little of it for when you get up after the break so as to wakeup, get coffee, etc.

There really isn't a lot of free time yet to worry with by the time you get all that done.

 

When I'm at home I download a bunch of tv shows and movies onto my laptop cause its hard to find good internet on the road, netflix is pretty much a no-go.

Lately I've been watching The Sopranos and Curb Your Enthusiasm. I'll watch an episode while making dinner, and go to sleep after the episode is done.

I also have a gaming laptop. Sometimes I'll play games after my shift, but not usually. I usually save the games for my 34-hour resets.

 

I seldom have a problem with internet speeds while on the road. Verizon works just fine in most places, and usually at 4G speeds, so Netflix is usually fine.
I tend to take a 12 hour break, just to give myself a little more relaxation time.

 

Plot world domination.
Memorize distances to other planets.
Argue with the voices in my head.
Lose arguments.

 

Let me guess, your co-driver is a mouse named Pinky and your handle is Brain? You def had me laughing reading that.

I like to read to unwind till I can sleep.

 

I made friends with the monster under my bed, also talking to the voices inside my head is fun,

 

Keep it clean fellas. Nobody needs to know what you do with your curtains drawn.

 

Usually, I catch up my logs then go over it and the previous 7 days to make sure there are no errors. Then I do it again because I know DOT will. Then I re-read the entire FMCSRs. Following that, I feel ready to do my post trip. Once my post-trip is done and I have checked every single mechanism, gear, fluid, nut, bolt, panel, tire, wheel, wire, chip, bulb, door, window, mirror, covering, plate, screw, battery, and anything else I might have forgotten, I usually grab a shower. Then I grab breakfast quick. Come out to the truck, re-check my logs for the past 7 days, start my log for that day, and start my pre-trip. Then, after about 2 hours of actual drive time, I stop for the night and start my post-trip routine again.

Sleep? Screw that noise. I got inspections to do man, I can't be sleeping all the time.. geesh.
