My company just added overnight runs . Leave Monday morning , do half a route, stay at a hotel, do the other half of the route and come back. So 2 days and 1 night . We’re getting 30$ TOTAL for meal allowance. Idk if there is laws on this but that doesn’t seem right . From the research I’ve done, the standard is over 50$ per day for food . And the cherry on top is , they make us turn in receipts, then are supposed to reimburse us for up to 30$, I ran this route 2 weeks ago and didn’t get reimbursed yet, the excuse I got was “ it’s a process, we’ll pay reimburse you “ aka someone isn’t doing their job . We get paid weekly
What do you guys get for meal allowances on overnight runs?

Per diem that you claim on taxes is 80% of $60-odd per day. Be thankful they're giving you anything.
road_runner, bzinger, Sirscrapntruckalot and 3 others Thank this. -

Every outfit I’ve ever worked for if they sent us out for an overnighter they always gave us cash per day that’s why I’m asking

	Not for company drivers anymore.
That was secretly removed from the administration's tax reform a couple of years ago.

FxF has a limit of $70 per day when traveling for business, but it’s not clear if that also applies to overnight linehaul runs or just general travel.

That’s pretty generous honestly. I could eat like royalty on $30 a day but of course I cook my own food. As it stands now, I eat very well by cooking my own meals on the truck for between $250-$300 per month. I rarely eat out. And I refuse to eat truckstop junk food.
