So what is N.M weight Distance permit. Is that a hard copy that I should have in my permit binder or is it just done when company files IFTA. I asked the company-guy and he said they have N.M Permit # and files IFTA and dont' have any hard copy of any weight distance permit for me to carry .

As long as the company is filed with the state you should be good to go. They look it up off your dot number at the scale. A couple years ago they did away with the requirement to carry a hard copy.

I run many oversize loads, and I have been into every scale across the country. The majority will ask for your cab card, insurance, IFTA and paperwork for the load.

OR requires a state weight ticket
    NM has it's own permit
WY and MS have ALWAYS asked for IFTA when I went in

I have YET in 9 years driving been asked for my log book. I guess I have a lucky streak going LOL

    Hi snowwy,
I could be wrong but I doubt if it's 16cents per mile, that seems a bit high. I think 16 cents might be for overweight but idk.

Here's what i found on one site :

    New Mexico
The state of New Mexico charges a weight-distance tax on vehicles with a declared gross vehicle weight
of greater than 26,000 pounds. The tax is based on the weight of the vehicle and the number of miles
traveled on New Mexico roads. New Mexico utilizes graduated tax rates based on the declared gross
vehicle weight. The tax rate ranges from $0.01101 per mile for a vehicle weighing between 26,001 to
28,000 pounds to $0.04378 per mile for a vehicle weighing 78,001 pounds or more. Discounted rates
apply (66 percent of the stated rate) for vehicles used primarily for one-way hauling, vehicles for which
45 percent of more of travel within a year is traveled without a load, and for any vehicles that are
individually classified by the department to be eligible for the reduced rates.

If anybody goes into Canada they want all supporting documents for the past 14 days . It takes them over an hour to do a level 2 . I was impressed how familiar they were with the Xata version of e-logs .
