are you waiting for a trainer now? maybe you'll get lucky and work out of Tomah Wis. walmart dist.center.

A good flashlight is always a good idea also.
-
A reflective safety vest, work gloves, safety glasses, mp3 player.
-
A couple basic tools also, pliers, screwdrivers, duck tape and bungie cords. These basic items can save you in a clinch and get you down the road, instead of sitting and waiting for a mechanic for hours on end. Oh, yeah, bring some flip-flops for those scroungy showers so you won't get foot fungus. And a laundry bag for the dirty clothes.

I would lose the 60lbs of quarters. All the laundromats have change machines and worst comes to worst just get it from the cashier. I think you will also find your change adds up quickly anyway living on the road. Whenever we came home from driving we would have a huge bucket full of change that we would empty out of the truck. This was even after stopping at truck stop casinos! I would definitely bring cash though. At least $100 emergency stash. You should always have that with you. Bring a pair of gloves. (work gloves) they are pretty cheap at Wally world. I would also bring a copy of your MVR, your birth certificate and your resume. This will make life a lot easier. Oh yeah, S.S. card too. You are going to need one blank check too. You can bring a ruler but they usually give you a logbook one at orientation. I think somebody already said poncho/raincoat. You can get those poncho's in a little tiny bag and they won't take up any room at all. Above all don't over pack. You aren't going to South America so there will be plenty of opportunities to hit the store if you forget something. You will be surprised how much crap you can buy at a truck stop! They are like little mini, overpriced Walmarts!
Oh yeah, if you have any prescription meds it is easier to get them refilled now or transferred to Walmart just in case you run out over the road. There are Walmarts all over the place and most of them you can get a big rig into. Good luck man!
