Big Don I appreciate the reply. This business like a lot of other businesses is not for everyone. I just hope that some people realize this. The people who post here inquiring about trucking that carry excessive baggage need to do some research. I know I would hate to spend thousands of dollars getting a license that I can't use.
I would suggest to anyone who thinks they may have a problem would be to see if one of the company schools will accept you first. They are going to do a background check prior to investing in you.

Sorry to pop that delusional bubble of yours but there are literally thousands out here that made it under the radar.

Yup I am sure there are. We hired a few to haul equipment for us. But all said and done a new driver has to start somewhere. I am not really sure if a letter from us stating so and so have been a driver for x number of months means much. Most of the companies I have talked with (Not many) have all said that after verifiable experience I may have a position with them down the road. My point is how you go to work for the Swifts and the Schneider's to get experience if you don't meet their minimum requirements. All of these companies plainly state what kind of driving record and background you need to surpass in order to work for them. Again I wouldn't spend a lot of money or time investing in a career change if I can't be hired. Yup, when you started driving back in the late seventies I was driving my Dad's lowboys around Georgia with a chauffeur's license. Things have changed. I sure there are still all kinds of opportunities for recent felons, kid beaters, druggies and wreckless drivers to get into trucking but I am not looking in that direction nor have I seen any active recruitment for these types of drivers. The only thing delusional here is people who think the trucking industry is a confessional.

I do it because I want to, not because I have to. I spent the first part of my adult life setting myself up. Now I can follow my passion.

    Life is good :headbang:
