I was just wondering, he was good to me, a stand up guy and a naval officer which I have incredible respect for.

I kinda figured he'd be there forever. What made him leave? I'd like to know as he was a fixture, and had a history with W/S as have I.

Thanks any of you that are there now.

He went back OTR. I think he's still with WS, doing heavy haul.

He is a good guy. I enjoyed talking to him. I got to take him to the airport very early one morning when he was going out of town while I was in orientation.

He was a Navy Commander on an Aircraft Carrier. He was well suited to be a Safety Director for any company. I knew of his issue. I can't believe he went back to driving. He had a life. Heavy haul what? W/S? If he is doing oilfield work from Lewiston to Billings, I could see it. Anything else, WTF?

I just talked to Mark Dodge today. Macon is pulling doubles from Salt Lake to Boise on a dedicated run.

He could be pulling those heavy rocky set doubles W/S has? So maybe you could still be right!

Macon was one of the best people I knew around there. He took care of any issues I'd have and took notice when you went out of your way to do a good job. I still remember the time I had a death in the family and next thing you know he called me up to see if I was doing alright. Not sure how things have changed over the years, but people like him made W/S real tough for me to leave when I had the opporitunity to make more money.

    formertaxidriver Thanks this.

I drove out of the missoula terminal for several years and got to know macon fairly well. his wife was offered and accepted a "dream job" in boise. macon moved to boise with his wife and family (duh) and thus was not able to keep his safety manager position.

the way the person who told me about this used was "macon went back to being just a regular truck driver". this frankly surprises me that she would use such language; macon would have had a little chat with her about this. "just a truck driver"...

he's a good guy, a good driver, and was an awesome safety director. i wish him well.

I got to know Macon real well over the last couple years and I talked to him just before he left Missoula. Yea, his wife was able to get a job in Boise that she couldn't say no to. Macon was able to get a dedicated run with W/S that would get him into Boise on regular if not daily basis..
