What happened to "real" restaurants at truckstops? What stops still have them?

Has Dottie’s at the Voss Truck Port in Cuba, MO (I-44 exit 208) been noted? Hard to go wrong there no matter what sort of dining mood you’re in.

    Oxbow and Oldironfan Thank this.

Pick yourself up a National Truck stop directory. I list all the truck stops by state, route, and amenities. I just received my new one in the mail. It now contains truck washes. It could take a few pages and weeks to list all those still with actual restaurants in them. Petros, some Sapp Bros, Bosselmans, and several off breed brands like the Triple T in Tucson, AZ, Hopi Travel Center in Holbrook, AZ, and so forth

You can always opt to do the “Build your own slam” at Denny’s. Pick any 4 slam items for around $8, plus you can add 2 extra items for a small fee.

I used to just get 2 orders of eggs (4 eggs) and 2 orders of meat if I had some time to kill. The wifi in the restaurant is free and usually really fast, too.

I think I'm allergic to the burgers. The most grizzled burger meat I've ever had, more than once. Taste is good but chewy when cold, like leather bits, and greasy. Almost lime Jack in box burgers. Makes my stomach do somersaults.
And I have a cast iron gut. I will east ghost pepper burger links from Loves, and i love Jack in the box tacos????? And spicy stuff. I give up.

I'm anxious to see how small and thin Denny's can get their bacon down to. Every year, they seem to reduce the size and thickness. I can't do their goofy little link sausages. How I yearn for quality hand-formed sausage patties, fresh grilled and just barely "burned" ... like mom used to make on Saturday morning in a cast iron skillet.
