It's trucking, crap happens, get used to it, because it doesn't matter WHERE he works, he is going to have things that just don't make any sense.

Well, then there are some things he must like about it. Not too sure about that being "good money" in today's world, but perhaps it is for his experience level.

You worry about what to do to support him. It is simple. Listen to him. You don't have to agree with him, just listen to him. Be his sounding board. Let him know that this is not a you OR me thing, but a you AND me thing.

When I'm running correctly I make between $1500-2000 per 7 day.
I have the pay stubs to prove it.
This week the new "saftey" twatwaffle, I mean professional was doing saftey orientation. Well because I was going to do a quick shag since there was nothing going on load wise due to orientation, I was up first. Well, he wants to see if I can do a pre trip in the monsoon we had up here the other day. One of my sealed led teardrops was out on my ftl.
He put me oos until it was fixed.
Well, the mechanics at DC don't have it.
Fight for over an HR to get sent up to truck stop to get one as they are an ftl service point. Well after waiting 5 hrs, they don't have one. They call a bunch of ftl dealers. NoNE of them have one.
Had to have a few overnighted from Memphis. Seriously, I lost 2 loads over a light.
Things that make my head bleed.

 

Whenever you are at any of the Werner Terminals with a shop you can go to the parts department and get a light bulb kit that has one of about everything that you will need. You can also get spare headlight bulbs. I have bought them at an auto parts store and gotten reimbursed, but clear that with your dispatcher first.
