There's a lot I don't know. But, after dealing with doctors more than I would have liked, I've had to learn to protect myself. The majority of doctors I've had prescribe drugs on a preventative basis, they say, and after some heart felt discussion, will actually practice medicine.

One of my main concerns is my mental health. I don't want to go down the road Biden is on. So, when my Dr recently tried to prescribe Statin drugs because my cholesterol is slightly elevated I said no based on what I know of its connection to Alzheimers.

I did a search, again, for information on this subject and this is an article I found interesting, among many others. Just Say No to Statins

One highlight is that the reduction in possible heart attacks is about 1%. Another is that in certain common cases the drug increases the incidence of heart attack. This is in addition to making the concept of socks confusing.

Just do your own research and question your Dr.

I have to be careful what I say, apparently, with my views on healthcare today, so I'll be brief. Remember, YOU are the patient, and are seeking advice from THEM, not t'other way 'round. You make the decision, if I wanted a large fries, I'd ask for one,,thing. I feel, healthcare today is highly overblown, like taking my BP when I'm upset, then prescribe medication based on THOSE findings. It's a slippery slope. On one hand, as we age, it's job security for them, go to any dr office, it's all old people. On the other hand, you want to live, you have no other choice, except those hacksters in Mexico,,,I heard, and they know that. Like a dedicated hauling account to them. I DO think there are many who are truly dedicated to helping people today, it's just, and I know a male retired nurse who confirmed this,,,it's a business like any other, and they could EASILY fudge the results in their favor, unless you have your own MRI machine, of course.
Far as mental health, oooh, that's a noodle scratcher. They say, you'll never see a Harley parked outside a shrinks office, and as silly as it sounds, there's merit to that. Psychiatrists are building their 4th mansion in the hills, based on listening to peoples woes, sometimes, the only one who will listen. I was told for years to see one, but I raised the middle finger, and rode my Harley off into the sunset,,,figuratively speaking. My point, if you need to see a shrink, it's time for a major left turn in your life, shrinks will only sugarcoat it, and help some, but I left my situation, and moved to the Rocky Mountains, my "Harley in the sunset", as it were, and left my troubles behind.
Side note,,"reduction in heart attacks of 1%"? Come on, we all know there's a 1% margin of error, so that statement alone is an indicator of such.

Obviously, I've severely limited my responses, it's clear me and one of the staff are not in the same gear, but since I'm in on this, a little news. I was very nervous about my yearly BP renewal, as I have borderline high BP, even medicated, and heard about this Beet Root powder crap. What the heck, it tasted awful, but I think it did lower my numbers some. Apparently, beets contain a dilation chemical in the 4 days I drank it before the test, I think it may have worked. I couldn't imagine drinking it regularly, but any chance I can get to get over on the healthcare community, I'll try it,,,within reason, of course. I'm not licking toads.

As noted its a business and if you heard some of the things I did about some doctors and the deals with the representatives from the drug companies you would research anything they prescribe.
I have refused a few prescriptions over the years myself and am glad I did. When a drug has pages of side effects listed with most more severe than your ailment you should be questioning things.
