Good eye. At least you're doing your pre trip and paying attention. I'd like to see more people doing that.
The filter? You've had some good advice in this thread. Get it changed when you can.

    Just a reminder.

A lot of trucks run just that filter. You could have a 7 micron filter element in there and that is your only fuel filter.

So my advise would be change it ASAP.

    Midnightrider909 Thanks this.

Can you give us an example because I've never ever seen a truck just run a Davco filter and nothing else.

    Really.??

My buddy' has a 06 Columbia that he bought brand new . It has a ddec5 series 60 and it came equipped from the factory with only the davco. It runs a 7 micron filter and that is all that' is required.

My 2016 WS glider with factory reman ddec4 series 60 came from the factory same way. Only the Davco. Quite common actually. They do the same setup on n14s also.

I bet the op only has 1 filter on that truck

All of our trucks...KWs and Petes with Cat engines, came from the factory with a primary and a secondary fuel filter.
I'd have to look up the spec sheets to see if we ordered them that way or if it was standard.

That is a Davco unit, it filters and separates the water out of your fuel. As others have said, it is time for a new filter. But, what you can do, is get a cup or something, and underneath the unit is a petcock valve to drain out the water. Do that and you should be fine for your trip, but get it changed. Any truck stop that has a shop should stock the filter.

And draining the water should be a weekly or bi-weekly event. You will see the water coming out, and when you see diesel close the valve.

When it gets to the top, your outfit puts it on your DAC report so you can't quit 'em and go elsewhere. Just kiddin'. I THINK. Anyway....That's what a dirty filter looks like. Change it out when you get to your terminal. And DEMAND it be changed. Don't go on another run until it is.
