I guess for those that had a home long enough to pay it off, your reasoning makes sense. However, what percentage of SS recipients own their home. I’d suggest not as high a percentage as you think.

For those that live in major metro areas and couldn’t get to that home ownership goal, they have to rent, and rents, especially in metro areas have gone up exponentially, so paying some burger tossed $15 an hour inflates everything around them. They whine that they need a “living wage” but I remember having more than one job when young trying to make ends meet, but it seems the current snowflake generation doesn’t want to make that kind of an effort .

When government arbitrarily increases the minimum wage it DOES add to inflation

Was in the greater Denver area on Monday, had a 50 degree temp swing. From 20 at 0700 to 71 at just past noon, then back to 30 at 7 PM.

By golly, I don't remember the last time I corrected an electrical/mechanical issue by simply replacing a fuse. I have a collection of fuses that should be in the Smithsonian.

So I'm walking across the rest area parking lot and I happen to look into a car. The young lady was sticking a needle into the crook of her arm. Maybe she's a diabetic?

She’s probably the one that was on here saying a trucker walked by her car at 5 am at a rest area and she was sure he was up to no good. Lol. No wonder she was paranoid.
