You go out on 6 from Spanish fork to 96 then up the hill? 96 Is decent.

It did get me wondering when the temperatures got up above 100°F whether those trailer tires would hold up. So far so good.

I stopped just west of the summit in Nipton, CA at the Shell. Date shakes are ###### good.

I could have pressed on another hour, but a look at MyRadar told me the higher elevation would mean a comfortable night with no idling. 15° hotter in Baker and about the same in Barstow. No big difference in my HOS tomorrow. I should have PLENTY of hours to run a local military load, preferably with some kind of open deck. A lowboy is whispering in my ear about now.

Yes. I studied coming in from the west on the 264, but didn't trust it at 80K. Glad I followed the recommended route. Just west of the entrance to the coal mine that road gets noticeably steeper with some wicked curves.

264 is a no. Past the mine works the road is tight. See a fair number of bulk haulers pulling short tanks coming out of there. Think they take in something for the washer operation.

My hats off to the guys running into that mine with doubles and a total of 9 axles. As a year round gig that must get downright sporty in winter.

There was some “SIM” Volvo’s pulling Swift trailers that blew by me a few weeks ago. My CMS said they were going 96 and 87...
