Asbury still had a couple of chain drive Macks in the early fifties. They used them for local tanker and wet hose jobs.
We had a chain drive Mack that we used for a water truck in the yard. Everybody hated it. We took turns driving it. Open cab, no roof or doors. You had to practically stand up to steer it unless you were going pretty fast and going pretty fast meant you were depending on the one working brake to stop you before you ran over something expensive. It had a big Hall-Scott gas engine. A collector finally talked us out of it. It's amazing what those people will pay for old equipment.

Still, it's a very sad commentary on what we've become. What's next, the City Manager is going to call me to remind me to get roses and chocolate for my wife for Valentine's Day?

Have multiple “snow bows” going on. Kind of cool. They don’t photograph very well. Just looks like blurry.

I did curling twice a week for four winter seasons when I lived in Albany. I had a blast.

    I DO miss it.....

After a cozy and refreshing rhinoceros sleep, I'm tested, inspected, and ready to roll.

    Talk later. Driver gotta go.......
