I was promoted once to a forman position. One of the things that happens is you become an intermediary between the higher ups and the workers. So you kind of end up taking a lot of BS from all sides.

Supervisor? As in middle management? For a trucking company? Picture yourself sitting at a desk and above you is suspended a large funnel. All day long people, sometimes lots of people, poor crap into the funnel. Non stop. All day and all night if you're on 24 hour call for emergencies. You're under the pointy end of the funnel. Where does the crap go?
And, all the people pouring the crap in the funnel will expect you to smile and ask for more.
Integrity? It's there somewhere, underneath all the crap. Keep looking.

Don’t do it. I did at an oilfield company. Got tired of long hours in the field. All i got was long hours in the office and way less pay. Then shy of 5 years with company I got fired. I broke the rules trying to figure out missing inventory so that nobody would get in trouble. Figured half of it out and nobody had my back when corporate came into play. Even if you play by the rules, most likely will have Managemet above you forcing you to play dirty. Not worth it IMO.

Nobody seems to last long in local or mid level management. I finally saw why firsthand.

    Long story short, NO.

Exception would be if you are the boss/owner and can shove stuff back up the decision chain harder and faster than the incompetents send it down.

Back story: A long while back bought into a side job on the condition I could be a line supervisor for 3 months before I was introduced as a partner. Straitened out the chain of command then sold my part to somebody that was a better organization maintenance person.

I talked to a higher up yesterday about possibly lighting a fire under somebody’s ### on getting my truck fixed. Right after that SOB got off the phone with me he was on the horn to the shop raising hell saying something to the effect of “don’t be telling those drivers anything”.

I’ll never speak to that snake in the grass again.
