    Hmmm, my style of BBQ has no sugar. Definitely do not add any. I guess if you want to get full technical, it does have carbohydrates.

    So you go with a vinegar based sauce. I used to cook with that in the slow cooker. Then add honey at the end of it.

    This may be where the problem is. I don’t use a purchased sauce type product. If I use any type of sauce, I make it from scratch, then only goes on at the last few minutes of cooking.

    More like marinade and mopping sauce. Most are vinegar or beer/wine based. Don’t do a lot of tomato based grill sauces. Not a fan of sauces with a lot of sugar, just don’t like the burned taste they can have.

    Second one would be a death sentence for the wife..... Full blown epi-pen anaphylaxis from sucralose and aspartame.
