When you buy a new set of kitchen knives, it’s quite important not to hold the biggest one in one hand, and attempt to remove the seed of an avocado held in the other hand.

Shoved the tip of that blade pretty deep. 4 days old and still a bit tender.

My last load is washer fluid. Didn’t bother looking up the address. Turn off main road into farm country. Can’t be right. Pass a Mennonite School. The kids didn’t give me the pumped fist but I blew the horn anyways. I’m sure at least one kid pissed themselves. Went another 1/2 mile and a right turn and I’ll be dipped. Here is the consignee. In a field. Independent auto supply store.

When I was a teen I worked at a busy cafe as a cook , mostly sandwich’s and hamburgers.

I was buried in the weeds with orders and only buns I had were frozen. Tried to pry a precut bun apart in my hand with the point of a 10 inch knife.

Still makes me cringe 30 years later looking at the scar I have in my palm where I tried to separate my pinky from its other brothers.

I unloaded roofing in Oregon early this year where I met Iluvcats.

This Mexican kid had a pack of new lifting straps, and was trying to open it. I handed him my utility knife. It always has a fresh Irwin blade.

He holds it dagger style, right hand. Gets blade behind the plastic band. Pulls towards crotch.

Language barrier comes into play. Before I can get the words “Cut away from body “ out of my mouth, he cuts the second one, I see cut denim, and he turns white.

Hops off trailer, disappears for a minute. Comes back and lays flat out on some unloaded product. His buddy comes over - says something about‘sangria’ - translates that the kid faints at the sight of blood.

Probably missed his pecker by an inch, and major artery too.

Never use the point/tip to get the seed out.
Use the hilt. A light tap into the seed, 1/4 twist, should just pop right out. Spoon works also.
There is a way to do it with your hand/fingers, I don’t have much luck with that method.
You can search the interweb of things for videos on it.

I’d forgotten the hilt trick. Dumb mistake.

If it raises the sea level by 10 feet worldwide, at 1,000 feet elevation here, I think we’ll be fine.

Maybe an influx of New Orleans residents, but we can put them to work cooking jambalaya.

We use a lot of Avocados in our house. Making Guac-O-moleee starts with at least 4 or 5 of them.

Avocados are actually really cool, they come in nice little single serve packages.
