I am wondering about the other two who survived. It is highly possible they were awakened, and stayed quiet. May have seen the killer depart (supposedly by their near door) but did not see well enough/unable to identify. In this case, they and the police would deny any knowledge to protect them. It is rather strange;
that as witnesses nearby, no ID, pics, interviews. Were I them, I'd have an unplugged pump gun and a vicious hungry pit bull in my room.
