Your explanation does not make me feel any better after having to replace those on my 99 Dodge Dakota SLT.
Only 108,800 K and parts just do not last like they used too.

Was too. Some cold front flowing south over the Davis mountains caused it. Lasted till c/limits of Benson. (On oldUS80)
