for the citrus going dwarf and bonsai style to trellis boards on the wall. Should keep it under 8 foot tall and a 10 foot spreed. Will try the avocado the same way.
Heck I'm going to butcher the fruit trees outside this fall cause there is no way to reach most of the fruit.
What if it Snows?

The entire state of IL is not very truck friendly... Legislation that goea back as far as 2004 makes owning a trucking company in IL more expensive than surrounding state. Many trucking companies move just a handful of miles into neighboring states to avoid some of these truck taxes and saved hundreds of thousands of dollars annually.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this.

The city council would most likely shout WINNN and do a little dance cause their goal of eliminating trucks would have been met.
Looks like the facilities are not actually in the city so the city is not getting direct revenue from the inter-modal places only taxes from the people that work there when they buy stuff in the city. And looks like they have a good reason to be unfavorable because of the finest folks in the trucking industry that flock to those places.
Should check out the earlier story. I'm thinking IL state patrol and the county needs to start proactively enforcing the existing laws and put the inconsiderate truckers out of work.

Just leave me to my knee jerk reactions. Don’t muddle my self-righteous attitude with facts.
My hometown of Encinitas, California had this long protracted battle with Walmart to keep them out. Walmart Lost. We were so happy.
Then about 6 weeks later they took over an old EXPO furniture building across the street in Carlsbad, California. Encinitas Lost all the sales tax revenue and still got the parking mess. Literally across the street. Sheeesh.FlaSwampRat and 2old Thank this. -
Well they're clearly prejudice against truckers using an empty lot for the night.Dave_in_AZ, lovesthedrive and Cattleman84 Thank this.

If you look at the google map that shows the city boundaries of Joliet you would notice the same thing. There is a strategy to locate retail businesses outside of city limits to lessen the costs of permits and taxes. I've noticed many truck stops are just outside the city limits.
Cities generate good revenue from retail sales tax. Residential property taxes are usually just enough to keep the leaking boat afloat.2old, Cattleman84 and otterinthewater Thank this. -
I seem to remember not to long ago there was something about one of the TS chains wanting to put in a new TS in Joliet... Big "Oh Hell No" from the community... Not sure what ever happened with it... But if they dont want us to park in abandoned parking lots... Then provide us with someplace else to park legally.
And my 2 cents here... 14 deaths related to truck crashes since 2014... Well that sounds like a pretty good number when you consider that over 10,000 trucks travel into or through that corridor EVERY SINGLE DAY!
Also... How many deaths in Non Truck related crashes since 2014???? A whole hell of alot more than 14 I'll bet.
Yes every death is a tragedy... But people need to open thier eyes and quit pointing the finger at truck for the end all be all of problems. There are much bigger issues that will improve the safety of out nations roads.RidgeRunner731, InTooDeep, dwells40 and 5 others Thank this. -
