Yes. The last time through. Was like 75 or 76K. Right at mm 252 to 256. That's that meadow right in front of Elk. Moved me over a 1/3 of a lane. Think was gusts to 60mph.

Yeah I've had the wind push me around even when loaded to 80k but this was in the gorge between the Lincoln Monument on top of Sherman and Laramie. I had never experience winds that strong actually IN the gorge.

If I understand you correctly, when you say "SHOULD be tarping" it means the load should have been tarped, but you didn't tarp it. Steel rusts. If you get a load through a broker or your dispatch and it says, "tarps required", then you will get a damage claim for rust, dings or excessive bug splatter (on new equipment), etc.

Sometimes it's a ##### to tarp. The few times I have had to tarp it's usually been oddball equipment, requiring more time to pad the load to protect the tarp from sharp edges than to actually tarp the load.

As another forum member mentioned, if the load was already wet when you applied tarps you should take pictures and make sure you note on the BOL and packing list something like "shipper required me to tarp the load outside in a downpour". The one time I hauled a load of lumber that "required" tarps, the shipper required me to go outside to tarp it. I noted that on my BOL before moving out of the dock. At first they wouldn't sign it, so I said "Take it off my deck.". They signed it.

Funny thing, I delivered that load in a downpour and the receiver put pallets of lumber out in the yard in the rain. Often brokers put "tarps required" on every load, even if it isn't required OR a really BAD idea. I took a broker load of hazmat, flammable totes. Tarps required. Stupid right? Let's cover the packing labels AND trap flammable fumes under a tarp....rrriiiigghhhttt. The shipper thought I was nuts when I asked if the load had to be tarped.

    nnnnnnggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhttttttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!

I hate loads like that. When you catch me standing inside the Petro store looking clueless at a handful of tarp straps Now would be a good time to update n something.

I figured if ever I were to haul a skate board? I would get me a curtain side. It would make tarping so much easier.

*Suppresses laughing. They turn into huge sails when empty and collect ice like you will not accept crossing mountain specific valleys and so oh on.

That is why if your driving empty the driver colapses the accordian type cover showing the deck and DOESNT pose a problem as a sail like you suggest.

I've had to post up more than once at the TA when they've had the light weight restriction up.

Epic food in that place. It's about as great a place to get stuck as any.

They Swiss steak last time I went through. It was like -10, nice 40 to 60 gusts. So I get this extra big to go box with steak, potatoes, GRAVY, and Brussel sprouts, for two meals.

Ate the whole thing before I got out of the parking lot.;)
