Had that issue just a few weeks ago. Not VA but same bs. Got pain and CT scans showing bad things but can't get in for 5 months to see someone. Oncologists hands were tied until a surgeon signed off. I had a plan to speed it up. Knew the mini pace maker they put in me would F up the EKGs so went to ER whith cough chest pain cough. Got admitted and right away then I switched to the gut pains. Got all the tests that would have taken close to a year done in 3 days. Got started next day on chemo. They throw up road blocks you got to have a better plan and end run around them. So a big F you to insurance.

You did good! You're learning how to make the system work for you and that's also a good thing. It seems like after a certain point the patient ceases to be a human and becomes a few notes and numbers on a chart. They look at you and they look right through you. That's inexcusable.
Shake 'em up ! Make them listen to you. You, as a patient, have rights. Make sure the doctors and nurses and clerk know that you know you have rights.

Agreed with what you said. I think I need to point out that my oncologist and doctor are great. It is the blue tape dealing with insurance that really screws up patients. I will bypass them and pay for things myself just to keep things moving but not everyone is in position to lay out the $$$. I don't know why I am explaining this lol we all know how screwed up the system is must be the drugs

Yeah, darn it anyway. The only time I get good drugs now is the Lorazepam when I go for my MRI every other month.
Have they said anything about your ejection fraction? Sometimes chemo will louse that up.
Anyway, keep at it. Oncology rules!
