That’s a lot of education just to pass out wiener whistles.

1985 I climbed up into one of those at a Boston truck show. Right then is when I knew exactly what I wanted to do for a living.

Went right out and applied to North American..back when they were big and had a lease operator program. Company drivers were making something like $0.23 per mile.

Unfortunately the dumb 21 year old me had about a dozen assorted tickets (back when tickets were $50 ) and got denied.

Thanks for posting the pic, brings back memories of a better time in life.

As I remember it was just a Channel changer. Don't remember having that other brown box.
Here's a cable box story from the bad old days. It was 1998 , the year the wheels came off lol. Had this cable box thingy. Like this

Well one day I was blackout drunk. Passed out on the couch. Woke up and had toilet paper wrapped around my right hand. Hmm what's that doing on there. Noticed little red pieces of plastic on the floor. Then noticed the cable box was a little worse for wear.
Apparently the cable box had angered me for some unknown reason and I beat it into submission. Cable outfit wanted 400 bucks to replace The busted one. Never did pay em.
