Would’ve rather had a red hat.
But lone wolf kinda worked since back to just one truck.

Here is the update...Read and heed as you age...

OK. The old man has an update on retirement living.

At age 76, I lost my wife of 53 years on 7/2011. Lived alone maintaining a 4 BR with big yard till 12/2015. Grew tired of Saturday housekeeping and told self, “You are going to fall and crack your skull and be found dead here one day. So sold my house and I moved into Traceway Retirement Community.

They offer rooms as single spaces, doubles, and apartments in the independent living section. Singles are like stove, fridge, bed space. Doubles are same, but adjoining space as separate bedroom. Apartments are kitchen/living room, with separate bedroom, large closet/bath. You can Google Traceway Retirement Community, Tupelo, MS and sort thru floor plans if curious.

So, I lived there till 8/22/24 when I transferred to the Mitchell Center. It is a separate operation on the same campus, an “Assisted Living” operation.

Nice large room, excellent window view, great well railed tiled bath. Space for full bed, TV, computer desk and nice sized clothes/storage closet and room for a chest and includes a refrigerator. Three excellent meals a day in a friendly atmosphere dining room overlooking the lake. Meds are monitored to be sure you do not forget one. (I manage my own)

Laundry basket outside door by 8, done same day, folded and back by 5.(Formerly had washer and dryer two door down.)

Your trash is removed each PM, door is knocked on at 6 AM to assure you being OK and up for the 7 AM breakfast. Lunch is 11:00 and din din at 5:00.

Offers the usual wide range of activities from devotions for various faiths to snack food making in the kitchen.

Now, I do not need or need to rely on lots of these. However, I gained breakfast and dinner and not having to grocery shop and prepare them.

Lost space and some access/departure but they provide transportation to and from any and all medical related appointments.

I have sold my 99 Dodge Dakota SLT (109K) to a grandson. I can still drive and was downtown last Sunday to CVS to pick up RX. I am old, but not a fool. I have not had any near misses or shock crossings at intersections. But, I know at my age and present traffic flow, there is a distinct possibility of collision. Then, here is this 88 year old who should not have been driving and my insurance company would suffer. So, I no longer need auto insurance, or a monthly tank of gas and other maintenance. Cabs are not consistent. But a nice lady who cleaned my place bi weekly for years is available. She has a rate per hour, where she will go where you say, fill your list, apply your credit card and return with the goods and card….I can accompany her or not. So, not restricted, just plan and prepare further ahead.

The assisted bit is a sort of a misnomer. You get any assistance or arrangements you ask for or need. But no one is following you with a wheelchair constantly chiding “look out…“

Think I’ve got some pics of my old place and when I get the boxes empty and stashed here, show some of here. Working from a Dell 13” laptop over the free Wi-Fi. AT&T will not be in till 9/9 to reconnect me to my router.

(Opus and Hazul. Just moved halfway back on the property. Will go to the Green Houses when I get more demented.)

    A Funny..
Jim Shoulders, a repeat "All round champion cowboy of ? year is on Carson..They chat, and Carson comments that Jim is wearing tennis shoes...Said he expected him to be in boots...
Jim replied: Well, normally I would.. Just did not want someone to think I was a truck driver...
(Jim probably was a nice enough guy in other respects.. Jus sayin.)

More demented??? Um, ok......there's some real tolerant people down your way.
I was wondering how the new digs were. Did they help you move? I imagine they would had to.
Well good. I'm happy for you. Hey, 3 hots and a cot ain't bad plus laundry service. If The Hazul ever kicks me out, I know where I'm headed.
What's your new apartment number so The Hazul can update her address book?

Happy days.......oh, and by the way I'll remind you that you had a solid CASH offer on your pickup......but, whatever.

Girls came down from KY to sort and pack up items to bring. Maintenance was on hand to connect wall mount TV and put up channels for adjustable shelves.
    Should read:
    "Me"
    Mitchell Center,Room 215
    2800 West Main St
    Tupelo, MS 38801
