More busy streets in downtown Rio.... this street is full of shops only... everything very cheap... before I leave this country will do some shopping here.. if I have any money left that is... :biggrin_25523:

These electric trains are another new thing to me... they were not here the last time I was here... traffic has changed, bus lanes have changed... I can get lost in some places... there are many more people than before... a mix of old memories and the new reality....

The Petrobras (big Brasil oil company) building...

The open sewage downtown.. it stinks...

I don't have any pictures of sunny nice beaches with gorgeous girls in skimpy bikinis cause I am not doing any tourism here.. I have been going to downtown Rio many times to deal with paperwork, documents, visit government offices and things like that.. as usual every time I come to Brasil...

What snow??? I haven't seen a flake at home yet... I did run into some snow and ice going across WY on US26 Monday night... on top Togwotee Pass. Ran it between 25 and 45 mph barefoot.

Snow in WY....? But that's about "regular" almost any time of the year... :biggrin_2552:

Good question... :biggrin_2559: only small trucks go there.... but you would be amazed to see how the buses and other big vehicles move on those tiny streets.... it's pretty crazy.. traffic in big Brazilian cities... I don't have the courage to drive a car there any more... not after I got used to driving in America.

    Many buildings are really old...

All those tiny streets are infested with vendors... bicycles, motorcycles, some cars, some big vehicles... and lots and lots of people...

Some of the very old buildings.. from the Imperial time...

A very old church in downtown... where they open the doors for morning mass every day...

This is another very tiny very busy street with vehicles and people and everything... it's so busy and so crowded that people have to walk in the streets with vehicles cause the sidewalk is too narrow...

And I visited the place where I spent my teenage years... the apartment on the second floor of this building.. a few windows right in the middle... the place has changed soooo much that it doesn't look the same any more... it is "weird"...

    20191023_123016.jpg
None of those things were there before... and there were no trees... The building looks very deteriorated and in need of painting..
This is a view from the lobby facing the outside... it used to be all open... now there are video cameras everywhere and bars around the building and electronic gate for security...

    20191023_122516.jpg

It still looks like a quiet street... but there was less then half the buildings when I lived there...
Picture taken in front of my building... the big tower building is a big shopping center and office building....

    20191023_122816.jpg

That place is still nice.... with many more trees now.... but it used to be an empty dirt lot... trees grew up really quickly... either that or I am getting pretty old... :biggrin_25523:

Spent 10 years of my young life in that neighborhood... but I never played out on that street...
Used to enjoy watching that hill from my window... and some friends and I used to climb that hill.. all the way to the top.. did that several times... now there's a huge fence blocking the path...

    20191023_123919.jpg

This big chimney is still there... it will never be taken off... I don't remember what it used to be but it has been there for more than one century...
