I have Maytag washer and Whirlpool dryer, Maytag is is about 25 years and whirlpool at least 40. Both are ticking fine. My point is that they are both so easy to fixed. And yes, I’ve have bypass and replaced the door switch once among a few things. My son has those new style of washer and dryer and he has been replacing them the whole units or having the tech come out twice a year. The circuit boards are junk.

    It's a whirlpool part i cross-referenced.

My inlaws had some LG that didn't last anytime. Mine are simple twist knobs, zero electronics. I think the most expensive part is the heating element for $40. I will probably just fix whatever breaks until I decide to get a speed queen matching set when I move to my next house.

Unfortunately most of the appliance manufacturers have consolidated under multinational corporations. And the reliability and lifespan has plummeted.

I tend toward Frigidaire for kitchen stuff at least it is a European headquartered multinational rather than Asian centric.

Towels would be stiff as a board.
