That narrows it down, thanks. I'm thinking it came off a rake or baler....but who knows?

And sleet and icy/freezing rain. Worst weather I ever drove in was a sleet/freezing rain coming out of Springfield and hit it around Thayer. Ouachita hills?
Wind chill on moving windshield and cold rain all mixed. Old IH defrosters were not up to it. Had to get over long enough to raise the left hood wing, stick a broken limb in and clamp it down Radiator fan blowing hot air up thru the crack on my side helped the defroster make way to get out of it.
Not snow over Grants Pass or Florida Fall Fog, just too blurred over to see. If I could see it, I could drive it then...

Looks like the rusted branding iron for the "Jagged 9 Ranch." maybe...

So we completed all stops on the trip from Hell, and DH down to an indigenous drop yard by The Messisan border.

Here we found a place to stay the night.

Our loaded trailer showed up. So The OM has decided we shall didi mau in the wee hours of the morning under the cover of darkness using stealth.

You picked up a loaded Laredo/El Paso, check and trim off any foliage dangling thru door cracks. Waving in the breeze attracts attention.

SERIOUS ... It niggles something with me, your word adjustable. Like you have a rope (plow line) too long for where you want to use it now. Thread thru the notches, loop the slack and snap the hook over the ongoing line. Shorten it by the length looped.
Also, something about leather harness as the end of a leather "trace chain". Can't say I've seen it, but have seen the application used like that.

@Cattleman84 . What do you think. Remember you had a brand book or had your own. Is this a decent interpretation??
Hell, may be part of a ratcheting cant hook, but in a horse pasture...
