Way back when them old steel wheeled Farmall's and J. I. Case (with that yard long left sticking out steering arm) were not built to the Jap micro thousandth's of bore and fit, there was a lot of bluish smoke and drip down, puddle under requiring additional 30W. Gulfpride 30W then you could read the regular story in the newspaper thru it's pour, real clear. Hence this man in W. Memphis got to picking up oil and filtering it for resale to these needy owners.
Not broke, just sharp enough to keep from it, Wet and slick, as good from him as the Gulf distributor.. The later it was popular om dirt roads in summer.
Then came regulation and now they have an excellent market for the products they mix, meld, add too, etc and sell all over. Cheaper...

At one time, if the 2 cycle Detroit's and "C" model Clark forklifts were adequately sealed (slobber tubes/pan gaskets) there would never have been an oil crisis.

Couple of twist on the Zerk cup beats having to go back to the house to get the grease gun. The remains with a broke handle end. Part of a cant hook or some other floating logger tool? (The sharecropper from the MS delta who left it there could prolly ID 100%.)

I really didnt know recycled oil was a thing . I rekon it'd be ok if its viscosity is still intact and filtered to the enth degree.

Seriously, it has its place. Re refined and used in it's able quality, money saver. That is why lots of implement dealer/farm supply have different named buckets at different prices sitting on their floor...

There is a school of thought that oil does not wear out, by the 3000, 5000, whatever you set change at. That it becomes contaminated by dust (poor air filtration) water (condensation ) etc. And to an extent; it is correct, proven out by the better air filtration and operating temp level controls we have n
But, that can be carried to the extreme...
Ya, the GM on the gulf coast, used the oil filter of two rolls of paper towels. Ran it XXXK, tore down, could not even measure wear from new, re assembled, and poured the drained oil back in an took off... Offered the contraption/you furnish the towels. Did it on a Volvo too.. Read here.

I'm very much my mother's child. In many respects, I mirror her. My two older sisters and my father would tease Mom and me about our taste in salads. For me, a salad isn't complete without mayonnaise (Duke's being the preferred choice), slaw, and bread and butter pickles. Whenever I'm enjoying a salad and Keri and Bethany are around, Keri grimaces at me and begs me not to pass on that preference to Bethany. I just glance at her and retort, "Well, at least I never had a craving for dirt!" That always earns me a particularly stern look!
