    At least it looks to be good straight grained wood that splits nice... My first winter burning wood I split with a maul every night, usually in the dark... But I was splitting mostly cottonwood. The ONLY way that crap splits even remotely well is when its about 20 below zero and completely frozen.

    Technologically advanced had very little to do with the construction of my splitter... More along the lines of a very determined redneck who was still single and had both the means and ability to make it happen. Because if I had to split wood for another winter by hand I was going to freeze to death or die of a heart attack.
