Would have loved to overhear him proposition a chick in a bar before he became famous......
Could prolly undercut his offer, score and be back before he got his offer out.

You have a blessed collection. I was just thinking. In1942 Dad was a foremen on a WPA road project. Building a bridge.10" x 10'" x 16' oak sunk in the creek for mud sills. 8" x 8" uprights to floor level. Floored with 2 x 10 crossways and runner strips' longways out of 3" x 10". Wonder the weight did not collapse it, let alone a mule and wagon load added... Wasn't for rot, old bridges still be standing.... Untreated timbers, too...

Remember watching a railroad spur trestle over a creek later. RR track laid up to the southern edge of the creek, Steam engine backed the pile driver up to the end/edge, reached out and drove 10" OD creosote telephone poles down till stopped, crossed / topped with like 18 x 18 creosote pine timbers.
You can't find a pine tree in MS now big enough to saw out an 18" piece.

I bought all that last year planning to refloor my trailer. Ended up trading for a new trailer and the dealer didn’t want the wood. I also had him saw me a 6x8x16. I cut 2’ off as needed for blocking. If I can’t get a satisfactory price on all this I may just have it sawed. I need to build me another pole barn anyhow.
