As the earth goes around the sun, we were tilted towards the sun during early spring to summer and fall. The earth flops over and tilts the southern half towards the sun for their spring and summer etc. Solstice twice a year. I forget the exact dates but we passed the winter solstice a few weeks ago. Solstice just means the sun crosses the middle of the planet at the equator and cooks someone while freezing someone else.

I am bunkering down already here in Arkansas, we usually get first snow sometime around first week of Dec, but would not be surprised to get something in a few weeks that will totally snarl everything. My one complaint is my own tires. They are set up for summer still and are inadequate for ice and snow even with 4x4, it would be stupid to go out in that until I can swap over to winter tires.

    FlaSwampRat and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

It's fun, but then again not so fun. We have some storms that are life threatening at times depending how the Polar Air pattern sets up above us.

Old Town South Dakota, I-80 during a early phase of a multifoot winter storm about 1998-1999 winter. My 120 was leaned over hence the bad picture taking in that wind left to right at about 45 sustained.

It was a difficult trip to Seattle with Chicken from Fayetteville Arkansas and it has to be there like four days and change. (It was on time...)

I passed Omaha Nebraska not too long before and when I got to Sioux City the radio reported 18 inches back there. So it was a little touch and go on that trip. I will have to scan in some Washington state mountain snow sheds that defend against avalanches before Seattle on that trip. Nothing but ice all over.

Yeah.. I was just "teasing"... I don't know how some drivers do like the winter in the USA... I HATE IT!!
Wish I could go somewhere warm for the entire American winter... off of the snow covered roads.. and now I am here... even though didn't come here for vacation but I am glad I am here... But I wish my dad were still alive.. I was planning on coming to Brasil in December to stay with him during Holiday season and celebrate his birthday in February and then... go back to the USA...

Key West Florida. It would be very close to your culture down that way. No winters there. In fact we are in Hurricane Season still down that way.
